5 years ago today...

steve and i were married on maui. i just scrolled through our wedding photos and found a few of my favorites.

here's our wedding party. my sister and her husband. in fact, this was everyone at our wedding. we hijacked their vacation and got married. they were kind enough to invite us to hawaii. about 3 months before we left for the trip, steve and i got engaged. we turned the vacation into our wedding and honeymoon. it was perfect.

me and my groom.i remember the day perfectly. steve left to play golf. normally we golf together but i chose to hang out with my sister. he didn't even tell his golfing mates (who he got hooked up with when he arrived at the course) that they were at his bachelor party. my sister and i went to our original wedding location and encountered gusty tradewinds and off and on showers. thankfully we had an accommodating wedding planner who had no problem moving our wedding at the last few hours to a drier spot further south on the island. somehow kim and i ended up at a laundromat washing clothes and eating mcdonald's. didn't quite plan that for my wedding day.

we had a beautiful ceremony on a very private beach and then headed to dinner. it was a wonderful day.

in 5 years we've had 3 houses. we moved from atlanta to seattle shortly after we married. and then from seattle to dallas a few months ago. and we've expanded our family with this girl.
happy anniversary honey! i've loved the last 5 years with you.

chevron wedding menus

client nicole contacted me about a month ago to make chevron menus for her upcoming wedding. she's having a modern wedding with colors yellow and grey and succulents. not many details, but enough to conjur up a beautiful image for me. after a few drafts, we went with this. thin chevron on front. thick on back.
all packaged and ready to ship. i also printed some grey and white chevron placecards. i love the way they turned out. happy wedding day, nicole!

The Pineapple Grill

I love food. There's people who eat to live and people who live to eat. I'm a live to eat gal. As soon as I finish one meal, I'm thinking about my next.

Last week on vacation I ate at one of my favorite restaurants, The Pineapple Grill, in Kapalua, Maui. (And let's take a moment to enjoy the beautiful music on their website. It's Jamie Lawrence. Awesome) This is the view from their dining room.

Not only are the views wonderful, but so is their service. It's impeccable, but still relaxed and friendly.

My husband and I first ate there February 16, 2007, after we did this in Lahaina.

I had pan seared miso marinated king salmon, over chilled soba noodles, crisp vegetables with a citrus ponzu sauce.I had it again last week. It's seriously my favorite meal. This time I dined with my mother and sister. It was a girls' week. We followed it up with their signature dessert, pineapple upside down cake with Roselani gourmet macadamia nut ice cream. It's topped with dark rum sauce and toasted coconut.

They actually post the recipe for this dessert on their website. I plan to make it. It's to-die-for.
