again and again

this past weekend, steve and i made a trip to again and again, the fab vintage furniture store opened by leslie pritchard in dallas. we went first to the warehouse/slice of heaven on howell street and then popped over to the smaller store on bonita street. we were on the hunt for dining room chairs. (the hunt is getting exhausting.... chairs that look good aren't comfortable, chairs that are comfortable aren't our style, chairs that are both comfortable and our style are out of our price range. you know the drill....)

the very kind gentleman who was working sunday allowed me to snap a few photos to show you all. i loved this white dresser.. and those blue lamps. gorgeous!
in my opinion, this is the showstopper of the warehouse. fabulous hot pink linen twin headboards with nailhead trim.
and the second show stopper. this aqua blue lacquered dresser. i love the detail!
we also spotted this brass chandelier. it would be perfect over our breakfast table. i'm still not sure why we walked away from it.
i spied this little fella. loved his pull.
these would be perfect end tables in a family room.
beautiful white leather chair.
gorgeous campaign style low dresser/media shelf.
my eye kept wandering to white pieces. here's another one...
if you'd like a sneak peek into leslie pritchard's lifestyle, check out this post on hilary inspired showing leslie's apartment. (wonder what her kitties' names are?)

and another post on the furniture warehouse. total eye candy.

if you're in the dallas area, be sure to stop by leslie's again and again. you won't be disappointed you did.

reading nook

i've been mentally decorating our new home for weeks now. actually, since i stepped foot inside of it. here's the floor plan for the 2nd floor. there's a small room off the back. the builders/designers envisioned it as a homework area. you could even have the builder install computer desks in the small room. my initial thought for the space was for a storage area to hold pixelimpress supplies. gosh, how boring is that.

i then spotted this photo from house beautiful. a reading nook. i love this space. then the wheels were turning... what if we made our 2nd floor nook into a reading space?

here's some more inspiration.

this one i love, love, love. our nook even has a window.

what do you think? do you have a reading nook? do you want a reading nook?

island storage

my new kitchen in dallas is similar to the this style and layout. except i have espresso color cabinets. i've never had a sink in my island before. it'll be a change for me. change is good, right?

see that paper towel holder on the island.
via

they should have thought ahead and done this. genius. and there's the farmhouse sink i'm leaving behind in seattle. i may never recover from that. seriously. i love my sink. the good news about having a sink in an island is... if you ever want to change out the sink, you only have to replace the granite on the island and not all the perimeter granite. (just thinking ahead, honey... it'll cost less $$ to change the sink than the therapy sessions to get over letting go of my farmhouse sink.)
let's look at some other clever island storage. trays anyone?
fridge drawer.
dishes. below my stovetop will be 2 drawers. i thought about doing something similar to this.
but then i saw this. bingo. linen storage.

a special package

i'm sending out a very special package today. tobi fairley was kind enough to include me in a blog post a few weeks back. i asked if she would like a complimentary set of my calling cards. she did!

i threw in a little extra something for her. shhhh.... don't tell her. they're on the way to her now.

and did you happen to see her and her home in the latest traditional home? if not, go here. i'm in love with these dining room chairs.

and this room. gorgeous.
and a snippet of her foyer. fab.

black and white

this was one of my favorite images from the new tradhome online magazine that released just a few days ago. (click to enlarge.)
via

the outdoor space was designed by jolene ballard and amanda malson. there's just something about black and white (this time mixed with shades of pink) that get me every time, especially in an outdoor space. the green of the outdoors complements the black and white so well.

here's another image of black and white in an outdoor space from the same issue, design by jamie herzlinger. pop over here to see more black and white incorporated into the outdoor spaces of this gorgeous home.
and then i remembered this space from one of my favorite bloggers, knight moves. it's her outdoor covered patio.

i popped onto pottery barn. lots of black and white in their outdoor merchandise this season.

including the drapes. just might have to put these on my wish list for the new home in dallas.

inspiration

inspiration comes from many places. in this case, a shelter magazine advertisement. this ad for christopher farr cloth caught my eye. i loved the bold blocks of color. and pink and orange is one of my favorite combinations.
i turned it into these. double sided standard size calling cards.
they're perfect for spring! so bright, so colorful.
and then i also made them in my other favorite color combination, greens and turquoises.
you can find all my calling cards here.

the kids are all right

i watched the golden globes last night while on the treadmill at the gym. no, i wasn't on the treadmill for 3 hours. but rather an hour. and i saw this

win best motion picture, comedy or musical and annette bening win best actress in a motion picture or comedy.

have you seen it? it was one of the movies i watched over the holidays. i watched it, and the next day watched it again. i liked it. i really liked it.

then i started googling. and found this. the home of mark ruffalo, also starring in the movie. my kinda of home. casual, comfortable, cheerful.
although, according to this, mr. ruffalo no longer lives here. hmmm, wonder where he's moved to?
